Whitman’s Bike Share Program

This program was established in 2012 by the Campus Climate Coalition and provides students with the opportunity to check out and borrow a bike from the library. The pilot program was successful and within this next year, it will be up and running again. This program will allow students to use the bikes for daily transportation, whether that be a quick ride into town to run errands, a ride to get some exercise, or a way to get off campus and explore the wheat fields. There will be 8 bikes that will be available by checkout through the Penrose Library, which is open for 24 hours. Additionally there will be helmets and lights available for students because we want student to be safe while their enjoying their rides.

The funding for the pilot program was provided by the Outdoor Environmental Leadership Fund, and we would also like to acknowledge the Whitman Outdoor Program, Penrose Library, and Whitman’s Security Staff for their help with this program.

These bikes will be maintained by a Bike Share Program Intern who will be paid by ASWC, if you are interested feel free to fill out an application.
